Overview
Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES) is part of Birmingham City Council and is one of the largest adult learning providers nationally.
ESOL courses run across Birmingham and are free if you are on income-related benefits, or earn £9.90 or less per hour.
Other courses in essential skills – English, maths and IT.
We have a range of ESOL courses at centres across the city where you can practise speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and learn the language you will need to interact with your local community and to access training and job opportunities. Most courses are classroom based, though we are also able to offer a mix of classroom and online courses at some centres.
We also provide extra learning opportunities such as:
- Conversation Clubs
- IT skills
- Wellbeing activities
- Preparation for vocational courses in Health and Social Care
You will study English in real-life situations and classes will include individual work, group work, pair work, role plays, discussions and presentations. You will work towards Skills for Life qualifications with support from our experienced teaching staff.
